Kent Nixon, Building Project Manager

Kent and his family have a home in Whiritoa and are members of the Whiritoa LGS.  Kent has been in the construction industry since 1989, working within architectural practices, bespoke industrial design and engineering companies, commercial project management, development management and construction design management.

Kent is passionate about construction and is committed to ensuring we are creating a visually appealing, functional, and sustainable clubhouse to serve our club members and community for the future.  Kent is a Registered New Zealand Architect (BArch) and holds a NZCD (Architectural).

Patrina Kerr, Building Committee Chair / Club Facilities Manager

Patrina stepped into the Facilities Manager role at the 2022 AGM.  Although with no background in property management or development, Patrina is passionate about the value and positive impact the Whiritoa LGS can have on our club members, first responders, and our local community.

Patrina’s family are all members of the club and have a home at the beach where they like to spend time surfing and enjoying the waves.

Sean Dean, Building Committee Secretary

Sean has been a member of the Building Committee for the past few years supporting the sub-committee’s progress in the role of Secretary.  Outside of the Whiritoa LGS, Sean works as a Primary School Teacher in Auckland.

As Secretary, Sean is the person sitting behind our sub-committee email address responding to community questions and leading our project communications.  Sean and his family have a home at Whiritoa and are members of the Whiritoa LGS where his family enjoys spending their days participating in the Summer Junior Surf programme

Vicki Skill, Building Committee Treasurer & Club Treasurer

Along with being the Whiritoa LGS Club Treasurer, Vicki is also the Treasurer for the building sub-committee. 

As a Chartered Accountant with significant experience working with community funding organisations, sports trusts and other philanthropic organisations, Vicki is leading financial responsibilities for our rebuild project.

Vicki and her family have long been members of the Whiritoa LGS Club and enjoy spending time at their house.  Vicki is a qualified lifeguard and volunteers her time on patrol along with supporting our fundraising efforts as a Bar Manager.

Ben Dallimore, Managing Director, RTA Studio

RTA Studio has been selected as our architectural partner after a thorough RFP process.

RTA Studio is an innovative and progressive architecture practice with a notable reputation for original and award-winning design on a variety of educational, commercial, community and residential projects.   RTA Studio is a Practice Member of the N  ew Zealand Institute of Architects, and Site Safe and is also an official carbon-zero company and member of the New Zealan Green Building Council.

Ben is a company director at RTA Studio and is leading the engagement with the Whiritoa LGS - and coincidentally has a family home at Whiritoa where Ben’s family are also club members.  Ben has extensive experience on various community projects and has been recognised for his projects both nationally and internationally.  He is an associate member of the NZIA and beyond the practice, is a member of the Society of Construction Law, SCL(NZ), the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) Joint Contracts Committee and is a member (and former National Committee member) of Learning Environments New Zealand (LENZ). If you would like to find out more about RTA Studio, please view their portfolio of work at https://rtastudio.co.nz/portfolio/
