Club Constitution - Final Draft

As an Incorporated Society, Whiritoa Lifeguard Service is required to update its Constitution to comply with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. Our current Constitution was developed under the now-repealed 1908 Act and must be modernised in line with the updated legislation. The new Act introduces clearer, more robust requirements and provides until April 2026 for compliance, including re-registration of all incorporated societies.

The updated draft Constitution reflects these changes, particularly in areas such as employment, health and safety, privacy, and the roles and responsibilities of the Committee and its Members.  The language and provisions have been aligned with the new Act to ensure full compliance and to strengthen our overall governance framework.

Following an initial review by the Constitution Sub-Committee, and a Member Consultation period held from December 2024 to January 2025, the Club Committee is now presenting the final draft for consideration and acceptance.

This above document will be put forward for member approval at the upcoming AGM scheduled for Sunday 1 June 2025.  We encourage all members to review the proposed Constitution ahead of the AGM and attend to have your say in shaping the future governance of Whiritoa Lifeguard Service.

If you have comments prior to the AGM please send these directly to chairperson.whiritoaslsc@gmail.com
